FAQ

Common Questions

Do I need my own tiles or equipment?+
No — Michael brings everything. Tiles, mats, and reference materials are all provided. Just show up ready to learn.
How many people do I need for a lesson?+
Mahjong requires exactly 4 players to play a real game. The Beginner's Package is designed for groups of four. If your group is smaller, contact Michael to discuss options.
Which style should I start with?+
Hong Kong style is the recommended entry point for virtually every new player. It has the clearest rules and the most available players, and it provides a solid foundation for exploring other styles later.
Do you teach online or remotely?+
Michael currently teaches in-person. Remote lessons may be possible — contact him to discuss your situation.
I already know the basics. Can you help me go deeper?+
Absolutely. Michael can tailor lessons to your level, whether that means learning a new style, improving your strategy, or working through scoring in detail.
Do you teach children?+
It depends on age and group dynamic. Contact Michael to discuss — he's happy to consider it case by case.
